Development and Assistance of the Persons Living with Handicap, Inc. (DAPLH) is a nonprofit corporation established in the state of Maryland for charitable, religious and educational purposes. More specifically, it has been established to combat and eliminate homelessness, hunger, illiteracy, unemployment and discrimination for children and adults living with all types of physical disabilities in the United States and other foreign countries around the world. We assist children and adults with impaired movement and mobility such as the inability to use eyes, ears, limbs or body trunk effectively due to paralysis, stiffness, pain, or visual or hearing impairments resulting from birth defects, disease, age, accidents, infections or illness.

The crutches and the wheelchair symbolize the principal beneficiary people, that are people physically disabled despite the fact that other valuable people will adhere and will be involved in the community developmental action.
The computer, the sewing machine symbolize technical or socio-professional jobs that our targeted people.
The two palms symbolize everlasting peace, the unit that will be our first priority and our ongoing battle for the success of our developmental action.

OUR OBJECTIVES

In order to achieve its goals, NGO DAPLH, takes on the following activities: Develop, implement, grow and sustain educational programs that will promote reading, writing and math enrichment, summer school (for those who are seriously far behind), career exposure/workforce development enrichment, and cultural enrichment for children and adults living with physical disabilities. Develop, implement, grow and sustain technology-based programs equipped with computers, internet access and other digital tools that will provide beginners, intermediate and advanced computer literacy skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, internet, email, etc. for children and adults living with physical disabilities.

Develop, implement, grow and sustain programs designed to check on the wellbeing of children and adults living with physical disabilities, to see if he or she is doing well mentally, physically and spiritually.
Develop, implement, grow and sustain programs that will facilitate economic self-sufficiency and stability for adults living with physical disabilities. The program will teach sewing and tailoring skills, shoe repair skills, culinary arts skills, esthetic skills, farming skills, etc. which will help them financially support themselves and become them less dependent on the government and others.

Develop, implement, grow and sustain programs designed to check on the wellbeing of children and adults living with physical disabilities, to see if he or she is doing well mentally, physically and spiritually.
Develop, implement, grow and sustain programs that will provide medical supplies and equipment, for example, wheelchairs, crutches, custom-fit braces as well as treatment and prevention education for children and adults living with physical disabilities, HIV/AIDS, polio and other illnesses. This program is designed to increase their mobility, dignity and opportunity for full societal integration.

OUR VISION

Our vision is to improve the life of children and adults who are physically disabled by making him or her realize that he or she is also morally, intellectually, materially as well as financially capable of doing what any other ordinary person can do in terms of potentials in order to be responsible in society, despite his or her physical handicap.
