In the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) as well as in other third world countries, the disabled people are often marginalized, abandoned to their own fate and are victims of many social difficulties (like the lack of an appropriate schooling, training, housing and, in short, a lack of a strong socio-economical integration..) and, therefore, become susceptible to a great deal of mendacity, prostitution, drug-use, etc.

Our Mission

Our overall mission is to help children and adults living with physical disabilities reach the average middle social level by pushing him or her to realize that he or she is well capable of solving his or her own social problems.

Development and Assistance of the Persons Living with Handicap, Inc. (DAPLH) is a nonprofit corporation established in the state of Maryland for charitable, religious and educational purposes.

Considering the high rate of illiteracy at 62% among all the disabled population in Kinshasa, in particular and in the DRC in general.
Considering the lack of foster housing availability and technical trainings in socio-professional or educational area reserved for all the living disabled
Considering the high risk of many social disadvantages all these people are exposed to (prostitution, mendacity, drug-use, STD, HIV/AIDS, and other diseases.
Considering the limited number of well-qualified people fighting for the legitimate rights for all the disabled living here in Kinshasa, the capital city, and in the interior of the DRC.
